*Fun fact – the owners for this store also own Neutral Bay and Pyrmont Sushi Train!*

I know it might seem like a trek to get to Dee Why, but this store is actually quite accessible with bus stops scattered along Pittwater Road and plenty of street parking around.

There were so many pages in the menu that we had a hard time choosing what to have! After drooling over the pages, we finally decided on a few that caught our eye, and as suggested by Yuri 🙂VIN_9158

Choooooot Chooooooot!

Recommendations:

It’s not the first time we learnt that the Japanese like to be creative and innovative, however we were really blown away by this dish! The menu actually said that the Japanese kingfish served here were fed different herbs: Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Oregano and Ginger – which provided more antioxidants and antimicrobials 😮

Although I can’t say that I could actually taste those herbs, the freshness was definitely prominent and refreshing.

Next up! The Grilled Wagyu Beef roll – this was smoky and tender, with delicious juices bursting when biting into this, mmm.. VIN_9139

Chopstick skills!

I also have to give the chefs credit for their amazing attention to detail – beautiful presentation! These pieces were so delicate that they felt as though they were melting in the mouth. Plated here is the mixed sashimi, a combination of Salmon, Tuna and Kingfish.

*Fun Fact #2: Sashimi is commonly and traditionally eaten as a side dish, along with miso soup, rice, another side dish and a main* (Thanks for educating us, Yuri! ^__^)

Shaped just a like a volcano, the Salmon Volcano Ship was seared and bursting with a creamy top and Salmon Roe *__*VIN_9143

When I saw this dish I thought it looked like the prawn would try to jump back out….hahaa!

It was really interesting that the tempura flakes garnished on the outside were also rolled inside, to give an extra crunchy texture.

Ahhhhhh, the Agedashi Tofu. With a crispy skin and soft, warm, tender insides, I couldn’t stop eating this…

Of all places to have dessert, especially a chocolate lava cake, I really did not expect to have this at Sushi Train and I really did not expect myself to finish this within…5 seconds. The molten chocolate lava was gooey and warm which complemented the soft cake nicely.

As always, with the Washoku Lovers membership card comes a great/free deal (I believe this side dish is now available everyday instead of just Mon-Wed). In this store, it’s the gyoza handroll – I’ve never seen or tried this before, and was extremely curious as to what it tastes like.

It literally tastes like a gyoza would – meat, veggies, dumplings but with sushi rice and nori – very interesting~VIN_9151VIN_9169

Arigatou Gozaimasu to Chef Shu and his team. We had a really enjoyable and tasty time!
